Hello!

I want to know how everyone is doing and how the packets are coming along! So tell me... how are you?

Also... what are you reading?

Currently... I am reading...

1. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (I have to know what the hype is about)--- I know.. i shouldn't be reading for fun, but it's a guilty pleasure.
2. The Art of Fiction for Young Writers

Bonjour,

How are you, J? Everyone else? I'm writing flash fiction and working on my novel with Jackie. Packet season is upon us!

Reading: stuff for the 10-page-crit. I don't know the thesis, yet, but I want to create a cross-disciplinary bridge between art criticism and children's lit. by examining the way writers weave artistic themes in MG and YA lit (not pic. books). I'm reading or will read The Dreamer, a biography on Oscar Wilde, Dorian Grey, Just Like That, Speak (again), Dancing Shoes, Out of my Mind, Missing May, and Bud, Not Buddy. I've been researching the acad. databases for secondary sources...I've made this idea sound like a plan and it is SO not gelled. It's a MESS, but that's cool. All I know, is that I want to combine art theories with literary ones w/o looking at PB's or graphic novels.

Has anyone else's gut gauge directed them somewhere for the critical?

Best to y'all!

Cheers,

Mell

Hey you! I try to target my weaknesses or what I want to learn the most about that month, and choose topics for the crits. that way. Do you have any ideas. Want to chat?
